Metro Range of Tiles

Tips for saving money on tiling –

1.)    Metro & Subway. No matter which way we look at it, Metro tiles are not going anywhere. Available in classic white and other exciting colours these tiles are some of the most affordable on the market. They are also some of the easiest to work with for first time DIY’ers, as their size means you do not need expensive tile cutters.

2.)    Tile ½ walls, if you are tiling in your bathroom, you can sometimes get away with only tiling parts of the wall. This way you are saving money on the number of tiles, adhesive and trader’s time if your budget allows for professional installation. These are also very stylish and on-trend, allowing you to pair your walls with fun paint colours, which you can easily change much more often than your tiles, giving you flexibility to easily mix up your interior whenever you like.

3.)    Limit wastage – try to work out your laying pattern before you start cutting, this way you are limiting your wastage. Remember, any wastage that could have been avoided will add cost to the overall project.

4.)    Borrow or rent tools, which are one of the most expensive parts of the job. If you can borrow or hire tools for a fraction of the cost, you will still be able to achieve a professional finish on a budget.

5.)    If your budget allows for professional installation or you are a very confident DIY’er you can also opt for a larger format tile for splash backs or showers. These tiles are heavy, big, but beautiful! You can use a single 60 x 120cm tile for your splash back, meaning there is only 1 tile to install!

6.)    Combining laminate and tiles in your kitchens, bathrooms or living spaces. Did you know that we don’t just sell tiles? Laminate flooring used to get a bad rep but our range of click vinyl is waterproof, comes with a lifetime guarantee and is DIY friendly! Click Vinyl doesn’t require adhesives, spacers or fancy cutting tools!

7.)    Opt for ceramic instead of porcelain on your walls. Ceramic tiles are considerably cheaper than porcelain, this is because they are not suitable for use in heavy traffic areas or on the floors. If you are tiling your bathroom walls or a splashback you do not need to purchase costly porcelain as these tiles will not be walked on. This could save you a pretty penny!

Remember that while saving money is essential, it's also crucial to prioritize quality and durability. Poorly installed or low-quality tiles can lead to costly repairs down the line. If you're unsure about any aspect of the tiling process, it's best to consult one of our experts instore for advice. We’re here for you every step of the way.
